Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and her iconic ear cuff

The new Miss Universe 2018 was crowned in Thailand on December 17. The fourth Miss Philippines to win the most coveted crown in the universe was Catriona Gray, born to a Filipina mother from Albay and Dutch father. She was raised in Australia but moved to the Philippines to pursue her modeling career when she was 18 years old.

As one of the favorites early in the competition, Catriona debuted her signature slow-mo turn that made the netizens and distinguished names in the fashion industry talk about it until today. Aside from the turn that made her a worldwide phenomena, she wowed us with another unusual jewelry to complement her stunning fire red evening gown by Mak Tumang.

She debuted her iconic ear cuff named "Three Stars and A Sun" by Tessera Jewelry at the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, where she won as the representative to the Miss Universe.  It's no secret that Gray was involved in the creation of all her pageant pieces, stating that she wants each to represent the Philippines. The second time, perhaps because it's one of her lucky charms, Catriona Gray wore "Alab at Dangal" ear cuff from the same jewelry maker. It is made of 18k gold, diamonds, rubies with golden south sea pearls and is revealed to cost as much as $4,000. It has since become a coveted item that Tessera Jewelry made a more affordable version for only $200.
