The newly minted duchess, Meghan Markle, attended the Trooping the Colour event yesterday. It's her first event with the entire royal family since her wedding with Prince Harry on May 19. She surprised the conservatives with a blush off shoulder Carolina Herrera dress matched with Philip Treacy hat when she stepped out of Buckingham Palace balcony to greet their subjects. We really don't see anything wrong with her dress. Is it really in their dress code not to wear off shoulder dresses?
It's not the first time that a royalty wore an off shoulder dress during an official event. Princess Diana wore an off shoulder gown by Victor Edelstein in 1985 at the White House dinner hosted by President Ronald Reagan. She was with Prince Charles during the event and she event danced with John Travolta that night. She has worn a lot of shoulder bearing dresses and the world didn't care about it. Another royalty who wears off shoulder dresses is the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, herself. She wore a pretty red off shoulder Alexander McQueen dress when she went to Berlin, a long sleeve off white Barbara Cassola dress during a dinner event in London, and another stunning Alexander McQueen gown during the 2017 BAFTA's.
If you like the Duchess of Sussex's look, here's some equally stunning off shoulder dresses to choose from. Click the arrow on the right to browse:
