Celebrities who got real about their pimples

Kendall Jenner was viciously shamed on social media for arriving on the red carpet with her visible acne. Seriously, enough of shaming celebrities for having acne and pimples because they are humans, too. It is not like although they have a lot of money to spend on skin care does not mean they will not have breakouts from time to time.

The latest celebrity who got real about pimples is Justin Bieber. He even captioned his photo "Pimples are in" and social media got wild. Celebrities get stressed, their hormones get wild and they are also exposed to dirt, so get real. They got real and we should, too.

It is essential to eat foods that are good for the skin and to keep your face clean to prevent breakouts. Be sure to check for the components of the products you will use on your face and to consult a doctor for any allergic reaction to products.

Do you want a glowing skin?

The big 3-0! A few days before I reached my third decade, I had contemplation about my health and realized that I have been living too unhealthy in a while. I am not vain. I don't eat breakfast. I don't even see a dermatologist or have regular facial treatments. I just wash my face with a facial wash and apply moisturizer. That's it!

I know that there are a lot of women who live a life like I do. Well, stop! You don't want to hurry up the ageing process, do you? Do you want visible signs of aging like dark spots, wrinkles, uneven skin tone to register on your face even if you are just in your 20s? I know you don't.

I am currently on the search for another product to test and I am eyeing Luminaze. I have heard of this product from a friend who lives in the US. It is a skin tone illuminator that promises to correct dark spots, thus making the skin glow.  Luminaze contains enzyme harvested from a mushroom that grows in the Swiss alps. This enzyme helps to break down melanin--a substance responsible for skin color.

I am excited to try this product and see if my skin will glow like it did ten years ago.

Moisturize your lips and look younger

Photo from The Style King.
The cold wind touching my lips is like torture. It makes my lips dry and flaky. My regular lipstick really didn't do any favors to moisturize my lips so I had to rush to the drugstore to buy a lip blam that is packed with moisturizing agents.

Girls, chapped lips are not sexy... not even kissable. If you don't prevent further drying of the lips, it will look and feel a lot like the Sahara desert. So, moisturize. Kissable, plump and moisturized lips can make you look younger.

Here are some popular and most recommended lip treatments that you can use:

Burt's Bees medicated lip balm. Available in your favorite drug stores at around $2.99.

Kiehl's Lip Balm, $7.50 at Neiman Marcus. This has SPF 4.

The Body Shop Born Lippy pink guava lip balm, $6.

Nivea tinted lip care SPF 4, $2.99 at Walgreens.

Chapstick ultra smooth fortify lip balm, $3.99 at Walgreens.

Today's Question: How do I get smoother hair?

I have naturally straight Asian hair, so, my hair is in the least of my concerns when it comes to beauty regimen. However, if you have unruly hair (it happens to the most of us, don't worry), here are some tips for you to have smoother and more manageable hair.

1. Change your shampoo. If you have been using the same shampoo ever since you were a kid, you better change stat because your hair has different needs now. Change as often as you want until you find the right one.

2. In the country where I live, not washing your hair is not an option. Pollution affects the hair and if you leave dust and smoke on your hair, it will become dull and more prone to breakage.

3. After showering, gently dry your hair using a towel. I don't air dry or blow dry my hair. I just let it dry the natural way.

4. Do not use fine toothed comb or brush on wet hair. Use a detangler instead. My grandmother told me when I was young to comb my hair at least 100 times before a go to sleep. It will stimulate the glands to produce keratin oil--a substance that makes hair stronger and smoother.

5. Take vitamin E, either by food or by supplements. It is good for the skin and hair.

6. Cut an inch off you hair at least every two months to get rid of split ends and to allow growth of healthier inch of hair.

These six tips I have been proven to be effective on my hair. I hope it will, too, on yours.

A Post Review: Olay Total Effects 7

Do you still remember my review of Olay Total Effects 7?

I continued using it because it made a huge difference on how my skin feels AND looks. I have tried so many skin creams and none of them compared to the effects of Olay's formula.  My skin feels supple and smoother. It is as if the cream revitalized my face's collagen fibers. I can say that Olay Total Effects is a woman's best friend to fight the ugly signs of skin ageing. Now that I am nearing my 30s, I don't worry so much about looking my age because I am confident that I have the best product to take care of my skin.

And now that Kris Aquino is the new endorser of Olay, I think more and more women will have a change of heart in terms of their beauty regimen.

Causes of pimples according to their locations

Uhuh! You can now geo-tag your pimples according to Annet King, Dermatologica Director of Global Education. The International Dermal Institute created a skin analysis system that divides the face into 14 zones.

Photo from here.
Zone 1 and 3 (Forehead)
If breakouts appear in these areas, improve your digestion by drinking more water and eating whole grain foods.

Zone 2 (Middle Forehead)
This zone is associated to the liver. Avoid eating late at night and reduce intake of wine and cheese.

Zones 4 and 10 (Ears)
Cut down on caffeine if you have breakouts in these areas. The ears connect to the kidneys.

Zone 5 and 9 (Cheeks)
Breakouts on the cheeks mean you have respiratory issues. Quit smoking or stay away from smoking areas.

Zone 6 and 8 (Eyes)
Drink more water to improve digestion and to keep your peepers brighter. Just like the ears, the eyes connect to the kidneys.

Zone 7 (Nose)
If you have breakouts in this area, better check your blood pressure.

Zone 12 (Chin)
Breakouts in this area signify hormonal changes especially when you are about to have your period.

Zone 11 and 13 (Corners of the Mouth)
These zones connect to the ovaries. Breakouts in these zones usually happen during your menstrual period.

Zone 14 (Neck and Temples)
Breakouts in these areas can be related to stress.

In case you have pimples in any of the zones mentioned, you know now what to do. Do not panic.
